Compress Image

Reduce file size while keeping quality — JPG, PNG & WebP lossy/lossless

Large image files slow down your website and waste storage space. ImageStream's image compressor processes your files entirely in the browser — no server uploads, no privacy concerns.

How to compress images

  1. 1Upload your image files by dragging or clicking (up to 20 files)
  2. 2Adjust the quality slider to control compression level (default setting recommended)
  3. 3Click Compress and download your optimized images

Platform-Specific Image Compression Guide

Instagram — Posts, Reels, and Stories

Instagram automatically compresses images upon upload. To avoid double-compression that degrades quality, compress your JPGs to under 1,500KB before uploading. For feed posts, use 1080×1080px (square) or 1080×1350px (portrait) and aim for 300KB–1MB. For Reels covers, 1080×1920px (max 8MB) is ideal, while Stories should also be 1080×1920px (under 4MB for best results).

Facebook — Ads, Posts, and Cover Photos

While Facebook allows up to 30MB, file size significantly impacts page load speeds and ad performance. For News Feed ads, aim for 1200×628px under 500KB. For Page cover photos, keep them under 100KB at 851×315px. Faster-loading images on mobile correlate directly with higher engagement and conversion rates.

TikTok — Profile Pictures and Covers

TikTok profile images display at 200×200px; upload at least 400×400px for clarity. JPG is preferred over PNG for speed. For TikTok ads (like TopView), use 1080×1920px (9:16) and keep them under 500KB to ensure smooth review and fast loading.

YouTube — Thumbnails and Channel Banners

The recommended thumbnail size is 1280×720px (16:9) with a 2MB limit. To maintain quality, compress JPGs between 500KB and 1MB. For channel banners, use 2560×1440px, keeping essential elements within the safe 1546×423px center zone, and keep total file size under 6MB.

Shopify — Product Image Optimization

Image optimization is critical for SEO and Google's Core Web Vitals (LCP). Use square images up to 2048×2048px, aiming for under 200KB per image. JPG is often lighter than PNG for white-background product shots. Shopify handles WebP conversion automatically, so uploading high-quality JPGs is best practice.

WordPress / Blogs — Web Performance & SEO

Images account for most page weight. For body content, use a max width of 1200px (100–300KB). Featured images should be 1200×630px (under 150KB). Optimizing before upload improves PageSpeed Insights scores and helps search engine rankings.
